5 Things You Need To Stop Wasting Time On Right Now

Do you ever experience one of those precious moments that make you realize how much you have? How blessed you are? At that moment, in that place, everything is alright. You realize that your family, your spouse or your children are all you need.

Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t. But if you have, it probably made you realize that you spend time on too many things that don’t matter in the long run. You worry, you fear, you worry some more. All those things don’t help you grow. If anything, they keep you in the same place.

If you haven’t experienced one of those moments, I can assure you it will come.

Here’s a little rundown of things that you need to stop wasting time on right now.

Worrying about the past
Classic, but nonetheless true. You are not the same person you were two years ago, or a week ago for that matter. Those experiences in the past made you grow, they made you the person you are today. Those experiences weren’t fun, but by learning you a lesson, they served a purpose nonetheless.

Negative people
You have all the right to delete negative people out of your life. That obviously isn’t always an option, but you have the choice to not be affected by them. If other people decide to be miserable, that is their choice. See yourself as an example of others, and treat everything positively and with kindness. This will make you and the people around you happier.

“Your time is way too valuable to be wasting on people that can’t accept who you are.” ― Turcois Ominek

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I used to dislike this quote, but now I realize the only reason I disliked it is because it’s so true. As someone who used to be scared to strike up a conversation with a stranger, I know all about this. But it’s important to keep in mind that fear is a feeling, not a fact. Without overcoming your fears, you will not change or grow.

Impressing other people
It’s in our nature to want to be the best, the smartest and the busiest. But you will feel incredibly free as soon as you let go of the feeling that you have to impress everyone. There is always going to be someone that is better than you, or that is disappointed in you. And that’s okay, as long as you are not disappointed in yourself.

Social media
Yes, social media is probably the biggest distractor in your daily life, but it can also make you feel terrible about yourself. Put a time limit on it, and make sure to keep in the back of your mind that these people do not live perfect lives, even if it looks like they do. Real life interaction with real people will give you things that cellphones can’t.

There is only so much time that is given to you, and we need to spend it wisely. When we are aware of the time we spend on things that aren’t important, or that make us feel bad, we realize how to spend it more efficiently.
